Procedures for the Installation of Aluminum Composite Panel at Site

Site Preparations

  • Before any Company installation activity commences,
  • All waterproofing and damp proofing works should have been completed,
  • Dried out and approved by the construction manager or consultant. 
  • Pre-commencement approval is required from the Main Contractor.

Procedure and method of ACP installation

Safe Access

A safety clearance from the Main Contractor Health and Safety Department should be secured first before commencing any activity from the site structure. Also, refer to the Risk Assessment of Materials storage and housekeeping at the site.
Check and ensure that the granted storage and working area is under right conditions for installations 

Scaffolding Erections

A scaffold must be erected, altered, and remove by the qualified worker or under the direct supervision of a capable person. The able person must sure that the erection is followed out as per the acceptable practices in compliance with any Shop drawings and the supplier’s or manufacturer’s instructions, and that the correct materials and components must be used. Refer to the Scaffolding risk assessment

The base surface must be firm and level enough to support the load of workers, scaffolding, and materials. Base plates and sills are required on any soil or unstable ground condition, or where any leveling adjustment is needed. The sill must be rigid, sound, and capable of supporting the maximum loads without settlement or deformation. 

Adjustable base plates must be adjusted within limits specified by the manufacturer.
The frames must be plumb, level and spaced to support the loads adequately.
If uplift could cause the components to distinct, locking pins must be used and the components saved. Uplift might be due to the action of the wind on protected deck or by the leverage effect of a cantilever side bracket on the scaffold. All joints must pin on rolling scaffolding and free standing towers. 

With a rolling scaffold or free standing tower, the platform height must not exceed three times its smallest base dimension. 

Guardrails must fix on all open sides of the platform where a person could fall a distance of 3meter or more. The top rail must be placed 102-112 cm above the work surface. An intermediate rail must be placed halfway between the top rail and the toe board if one is provided, or middle the top rail and the work surface if no toe board is provided. The guardrail must be suitable to withstand a load of 550N applied at any point on the top rail.

Safe Use of Access Equipment

  1. Whenever possible using Mechanical as opposed to manual handling techniques. 
  2. Ensure that the appropriate PPE is worn. 
  3. Ensure that routes to and from vehicles and working areas are free from obstruction and that where possible, measures are taken to warn the public of transit materials. 
  4. Preposition hazard warning where appropriate. 
  5. Ensure that one nominated competent person gives teams clear unhurried instructions. 
  6. Ensure that during windy conditions mobile scaffolds are tied to the building, anchored and outriggers are fitted and that all guard rails and toe boards are in firmly position. 
  7. Ensure that safe means of access is provided to the working platform. 
  8. Ensure that the working platform is clear of people and materials when being moved. 
  9. Move only by pulling or pushing the base. 
  10. Ensure that the wheels are fixed to the tower, turned outwards to provide maximum base dimensions and wheel brakes are locked on. 
  11. Set the ladders at the most suitable angle; a slope of 4 units up to each one out from the base. 
  12. Ensure that the ladders/Steps are regularly checking for defects. Never use damaged steps. 

Portable Electric Tools and Equipment

  1. Ensure that the plugs are correctly wire and that all connections are sufficiently tight. 
  2. Do not allow a vehicle to drive over cables, do not drag cables over a cutting surface. 
  3. Do not effect makeshift repairs to flexible cables, ensure all repairs are carried out by authorized competent persons. 
  4. Whenever possible use 110 volt systems and use double insulated and all insulated tools. 
  5. Do not install short supplies, and they can be lethal. 
  6. Whenever possible use residual current devices. 
  7. Ensure that all electrical equipment is regularly and thoroughly checked, inspected and tested.
