Method of Stick Curtain Wall Fixed Glazing and Aluminum Composite Cladding

The simple installation method statement of Stick Curtain Wall system, Fixed point glazing system, and cladding work of Aluminum Composite panels. The basic method statement to understand the flow of work for Aluminum or Facade contractors. The method statement listing below are followings.

Installation Method Stick Curtain Wall System


  1. Tagged frames will be transported to site store in dismantled condition and stored horizontally on wooden blocks at locations allocated by the main contractor.
  2. Frames will be shifted from store to fixing locations either manually or on trolleys.
  3. Cradles, scaffolding will be used for access where installation occurs at a height.
  4. A site survey will be done to mark the working points as per approved shop drawings.
  5. The brackets shall be fixed to the building structure, aligned and anchored in place.
  6. The mullions will be installed in position and aligned plumb.
  7. The transoms will then be installed on the brackets mounted on the mullions.
  8. Glass panels will be shifted from store to fixing locations either manually or on trolleys.
  9. Glass panels will be lifted manually with suction glass lifters and mounted on frames.
  10. Glass panels will be properly positioned using suitable spacers and held in place with temporary glass retaining plates.
  11. The temporary pressure plate cut pieces shall then be removed sequentially and replaced with full-length pressure plates having suitable gaskets fixed on them.
  12. The pressure plates will be concealed by clipping the cover as per the approved finish.
  13. On completion of all other trades, the protective film will be removed and units cleaned.

Installation Method Point Fixed Glazing System


  1. The glasses and the Spiders reached the project site are carefully offloaded from the truck. The glasses are safely stored in the designated storage area and well protected to avoid any damage to the surface.
  2. The spider fixings and glass panels are checked for any surface damage and handled carefully.
  3. The site is surveyed by contractor or sub-contractor depend on the scope of work and agreement. Any discrepancies are reported to the main contractor.
  4. Control lines and benchmarks are coordinated and agreed with the main contractor.
  5. The spider arm brackets are installed onto the primary structure as per the shop drawings and are leveled and aligned before final fixing.
  6. The bottom panels are installed first by fixing glass panels to the spider fixings.
  7. The glasses are properly aligned and ensured that the glass-to-glass gap is uniform and as mentioned in the approved shop drawing.
  8. Approved weather sealant is applied at the glass-to-glass gap and tooled properly.
  9. During all stages of installation quality control inspections are performed to verify the conformance to the installation requirements.
  10. Quality control checklists are maintained for inspection records.
  11. On completion of all other trades, the protective film will be removed and units cleaned before the handover.

Installation Aluminum Composite Panel Cladding


  1. All materials will be transported to the site in dismantled condition and stored on the ground horizontally on wooden blocks at a location allocated by the main contractor.
  2. Composite cladding panels fabricated to the required sizes will be delivered on wooden pallets.
  3. Materials before delivery at the site will be properly tagged for easy identification.
  4. All materials will be shifted from the site storage to the fixing location identified by the labels, on trolleys or manually as allowed by the site access conditions.
  5. Scaffolding will be used for access where installation occurs at a height. All installers working at a height will be equipped with a safety harness.
  6. The surveyor will carry out a site survey and mark the working points by the grid lines shown on the architectural drawings.
  7. The brackets shall be fixed to the building structure, aligned and anchored with suitable bolts.
  8. The vertical and horizontal runners will then be fixed on the wall bracket and aligned plumb to form a complete framing for the installation of the composite panels.
  9. All composite cladding panels will be shifted from the site storage to the fixing location on trolleys or manually as allowed by the site access conditions. 
  10. The composite cladding panels will be lifted in position manually and mounted on the frame.
  11. The panels will be correctly positioned and secured to the frame by approved fixings.
  12. The protective film on the panels will then be removed partially, and a backing rod will be inserted in the gap between two panels and sealed off with the approved weather sealant.
  13. On completion of all other trades, the protective film will be removed and units cleaned before the handover.

CLEANING AND HAND OVER

On completion of all other trades, the protection film will be removed, and the units will be cleaned before handing over. Any splashed cement or concrete on aluminum should be removed by the Main Contractor, without damaging the aluminum finish.

Handing over the procedure of completed works shall be agreed floor wise / elevation wise followed by a standard inspection procedure. Upon inspection, the handing over will take place and will be signed and agreed by concerned parties.
