How to Storage and Handling Materials In Warehouse?

Warehouse staff is responsible for handling the materials. The Installation Managerial Department will arrange related person to unload and load the materials. It is prohibited to transport in overweight or overload.

Loading with Forklift

When loading forklift, put the protective tape over the forks and the wood batten or protective tapes will put between the components. Pre-fork is necessary before normal fork to prevent the damage of component as the fork point not on the center. The forking operation shall be slight and slow to free of damage. The components shall be the center of forks to prevent components slide each other during the transportation.

Chemical materials Storage

Chemical materials (Including paint, thinner, gas) must be stored in a special area, the stored areas need to be good ventilation, fire extinguishing apparatus equipped, avoid light. In charge, personnel must have a relevant knowledge.  Other materials stored to prevent rusting, moisture-proof, high temperature, pressure protection.

Storage period for chemicals

The quality period is to be their shelf life; if no shelf life then the storage period will be half a year. Other raw materials have quality guarantee period shelf life. No shelf life then the storage period will be a year.

Storing for Steel Items

  1. Structural Steel for framing support of cladding will be manufactured by Aluminum Factory or company. All materials are to be stored in the [name] Company designated warehouse at ABC project site.
  2. The steel materials will be stored in such a way that will permit easy access for inspection and identification. Keep steel members off ground and spaced by using wooden pallets. It shall be protected from corrosion and deterioration.
  3. Materials will not be stored on the structure in a manner that might cause distortion, damage, or overload to members or supporting structures. Repair or replace damaged materials or structures as directed.
  4.  Store fasteners in a protected place in sealed containers with manufacturer’s labels intact.
  5. Sprains and Strains from lifting loads improperly or carrying loads that are either too large or too heavy.
  6. Keep storage location free from accumulated materials that cause fires, explosions or stripping, or that may contribute to the shelter of rats and other pests.
  7. Placed store materials inside buildings that are under construction and at least 6 feet from the hoistways, or inside floor openings and at least 10 feet away from exterior walls.
  8. Separate non-compatible materials.

Storing for Cladding Items:

  1. Deliver components so as not to be damaged or deformed. Package ACP panels for protection during transportation and handling. ACP panels will be package in polyethylene sheets, separated by a Styrofoam in each panels and will be positioned vertically in a wooden palette.
  2. Delivery handling will be manage and operated by a trained and experienced workers who have knowledge  in preventing damages when handling and transporting assembled ACP.
  3. The ACP when received at ABC site XYZ company warehouse will be stored vertically, covered with a suitable weather tight and ventilated covering. It will be stored in a positive slope for drainage of water. It will not be stored in an area where there is a possible contact with other materials that might cause denting, staining, or other surface damage.
  4. ACP will be fabricated to the required sizes and will be delivered on secured package on wooden pallets.
  5. Materials prior to delivery to site will be properly tagged for easy identification.
  6. All materials will be shifted from the site storage to the fixing location identified by tags, on trolleys or manually as allowed by the site access conditions.
  7.  Storage space should not exceed the temperature of 49 degrees centigrade.
  8. To avoid premature aging and shortening of shelf life of silicone sealants, maintain a storage temperature of not higher than 27 degrees Centigrade.
  9.  During transportation, the car shall be stability, don’t take a sudden turn, don’t slam the brakes on. Speeding up should not be to fast, no high speed, be slow, and prevent the entire components slide.
