Dual Boot Windows 10 and MACOS Sierra 10.12 on PC

Apple has released the Sierra 10.12 on 20 September 2016. You can clean install it by following OR a Guide posted earlier on this blog for macOS Sierra 10.12 installation on PC. Today I am going to show you how you can use Sierra and Windows 10 at the same time on a single PC. We are going to Dual Boot Windows 10 and MACOS Sierra 10.12 on PC side by side. So Let's start.

What is Dual booting?

Dual booting is a way in which we install multiple operating systems on a single PC. So that we can easily use our desired OS when we need it. It is also called multi-boot. Dual-Booting let us enjoy multiple operating systems on a PC without reinstalling them.
For example, if you have installed macOS and Windows as dual boot, you can easily boot either from MAC or Windows. When you boot into your PC, it will ask you to select operating system which you want to boot.

Step 1: Create USB installer

First, we need to Create a bootable flash drive of Sierra 10.12 for PC. You can follow our guide by clicking here(LIK your previous article). Follow instructions given in step one and then all the below formalities. Now you need to create one more partition for Windows.
Select hard drive and then partition tab. Click on plus icon (+), specify the size and give it a name. Choose MS-DOS as format and apply it. Click on Partition button to create the second partition. Click on done after getting the success message.

Step 2: Setting up BIOS

Now we need to set up the BIOS for booting it from Clover menu. For this, enter into BIOS settings by pressing F12, F11, F10 or the one which is assigned to your PC for BIOS.
In BIOS menu go to SATA settings and set SATA controller to AHCI.
After setting it as AHCI, go to "BOOT TAB" and set BOOT MODE as LEGACY SUPPORT.
Boot priority should be UEFI FIRST. Now save settings and exit. We have successfully configured the BIOS.

Step 3: Booting from USB

Now we need to boot up from USB installer. For this, we need to select EXTERNAL from Clover menu. Now you are booted up from USB. Choose your preferred language and proceed to next step.

Step 4: Creating a partition on macOS:


  • After selecting language we will create a partition to install our Sierra OS.
  • Click on Utilities and then select Disk Utility. Select hard disk drive which you want to use for the instruction of MAC OS Sierra.
  • Click on Erase tab and name the partition, choose format as OS X EXTENDED and click on ERASE button.
  • It will format the selected partition. Click on DONe after getting the message "Erasing disk process completed successfully."

Step 5: Installing MAC OS Sierra 10.12:

It's time to install our first operating system. Click on Continue and Agree to terms and license agreement. At this point, we need to select the partition which we have created earlier with disk utility.
Click continue after selecting the partition. Now, wait for the installation to complete. It will automatically reboot after installation.

Step 6: Booting into HFS

When your PC is restarted, then it will automatically take you to the Clover menu. If it fails, then boot from USB INSTALLER with the help of boot manager and select HFS from the Clover menu. That's it.

Step 7: Installing macOS Sierra on PC:

Now we are going to clean install macOS Sierra. Now as you are booted in HFS. select
Select Country, Keyboard, and method to Transfer information.
Select the language and hit Continue
Select the Keyboard and hit Continue
If don' don't transfer info click continue

Also, Enable location services if needed if not, then click on Continue. Sign in with your Apple ID or leave it by clicking on Don't sign in button.
Enable or Disable location then Continue
Sign in then continue
Agree to terms and fill up your personal information.
Term and Condition then Continue
Select options for Diagnostics & Usage and click on Continue.

That's all; we have successfully installed macOS Sierra 10.12 on our PC.

Important Note:

If you have already installed Windows on PC and wanna run macOS side by side, you can ignore all the below steps and follow up with the above.

Create Bootable Flash USB drive for Windows Now

Step 1: Creating bootable flash drive for Windows 10:


  1. The easiest way to create a Windows bootable flash drive is that we should use a software called Rufus. if you are using a Windows PC if not then you need to use the Bootcamp etc on Mac. on Windows follow the given below steps.
  2. Download it from Microsoft site.
  3. Click on start and wait for the process to complete.

Step 2: Clean installation of WINDOWS 10:

Insert your flash into PC and boot from it. You may use boot menu to boot from flash drive.
Now as you are booted up, it time to Select language, time and -- format and keyboard layout etc.

Select language and country then Next
After selecting these options as per your need, you need to click on NEXT and then click on INSTALL NOW, don't click on repair your computer.
Click on Install Now
Now if you are asked for the key, press SKIP or enter a valid key if you have one. Check the box which says " I agree to terms " and clicks on NEXT.

Accept license the Next
On next page select Custom Install. Now you will be asked for the partition where you want to install it, select the one which we have created during the installation of Sierra for Windows installation. If you are unable to click on Next button after selecting the partition, you need to format it.

Now, wait for the installation to complete. Once the installation is completed, your PC will reboot automatically.

 Successfully installed Windows 10
Now if Windows ask for the key, click on do this later. Now choose your desired settings or click on Express Settings.
