Saudi Arabia Working Hours KSA Labor Law


Many times, it happens that a sponsor is asking the employee more working hours than allowed by the Saudi Arabian Labor law. This usually happens because of the lack of awareness of the provisions in the labor law by the workers. Working Time Non-Ramadan

The working hour for a worker or employee in KSA Should not work more than 8 hrs in a day as per Saudi Labor Law article no 98. If an employee wants to reduce or adjust the working time due to any reason, then it should not more than 48 hrs in a week.

Working Time In Ramadan

The Working hrs in the holy month of Ramadan(Ramzan) for Muslime worker or employee in KSA should not work more than 6 hrs in a single day and it should not more than 36 hrs in 7 days of a week.

Article 99 In Saudi Labor Law

According to the article (99) in Saudi Labor Law, the working hrs can be up to 9 hrs in a single day for some of the employees or workers in some conditions and industries, If the employee is not working regularly.

It is also explicitly mentioned that working time can be decreased to 7 hrs for some employees or workers in some industries or conditions of dangerous situations. Minister's decision shall set the types of workers or employees in some actions or industries.

Saudi Labor Law Article No 100

As per the above mention article No. 100 in Saudi Labor Law, Company, may find Ministry's Approval. If the work is in shift actions and the sponsor is exceeding working time more than 8 hrs in a day or 48 hrs in a week on a condition that normal working hrs in 3 weeks should not be more than or less than 8 hrs in a single day or 48 hrs in a week.

Article 101 In Saudi Labor Law

In this article appeared, mention the working hrs shall be plane according to scheduled that no worker should work more than five continuously hrs without meals, break for prayer or take rest. The break time is not less than 30 minutes during the working hrs.
Likewise, no worker allowed to work more than 12 hrs in a single day.

Break Time In Article 102

The meal, rest or break time should not be count with working hrs as per the Article no. 102 of Saudi Labor law. In the break time, the employees should be not on the employer's authority. It is not required to stay employee or worker at company workplace or area during rest time or break time.

  1. Company or Kafeel may not reply with provisions of the following articles no. 98, 101 and paragraph No. 1 or article no. 104 of the law.

  2. The Provisions of these Articles No. 98 to 101 shall not apply to some few conditions.
